Spirit Airlines, which plans to emerge from bankruptcy this summer, is now in danger of liquidation due to a significant increase in jet fuel prices, which have reached approximately $4.24 per gallon. The company had previously estimated average costs of $2.24 per gallon for this year. Bloomberg sources suggest that a liquidation decision could be made soon, although it is not considered the most likely option. Spirit filed for bankruptcy for the second time in August, having incurred losses of over $2.5 billion since 2020. If the company were to be liquidated, passengers could be left without flight options. Experts recommend that customers do not cancel their booked flights, as they could lose their right to a refund. Other airlines have prepared emergency fares to help passengers get home in the event of a liquidation.
