In Italy, an armed robbery took place on a highway, when several masked individuals, armed with machine guns, blocked an armored vehicle transporting valuables. They used cars to block the road, setting two of them on fire, which exploded. The attackers attempted to steal the money from the armored vehicle but entered into a shootout with two carabinieri present at the scene. It appears that the thieves were equipped with Kalashnikov-type weapons. Two of the attackers were apprehended, but others managed to escape and are being sought in the Lecce area. These types of robberies are becoming increasingly frequent in Italy, with attackers sometimes managing to flee with large sums of money.
