The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, stated that he will propose to Parliament the sending of peacekeeping troops to Palestine when the opportunity arises. He emphasized that Spain must play an active role in rebuilding hope in Palestine, considering the intolerable situation in Gaza. At the end of last year, Sanchez highlighted the dramatic conditions of the Palestinian population during a meeting with the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. Additionally, the Spanish government recognized a Palestinian state in May 2024 and criticized Israel's actions in Gaza following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. Furthermore, Sanchez mentioned the willingness to send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine, but the Kremlin warned that these units could be considered legitimate military targets.
