The Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, stated that the detention of Spanish activist Saif Abu Keshek, arrested by Israel in international waters while heading to the Gaza Strip, is illegal and called for his immediate release. Albares emphasized that the arrest took place outside Israeli jurisdiction, making the detention invalid.

Approximately 175 activists from the 'Global Sumud' flotilla, who were trying to break the naval blockade of Gaza, were arrested, but most were released in Greece, with the exception of Abu Keshek and Thiago Avila. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the two are being interrogated, accusing them of links to organizations considered terrorist. Albares expressed concern over this situation, deeming it unacceptable and straining Spain's relations with Israel.
