The Council of Ministers from the Iberian Peninsula has approved a review report of the 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy, which includes 100 objectives, among which is a universal allowance for child raising. This initiative, proposed by the Ministry of Social Rights, aims to reduce child poverty, which affects approximately 29.2% of minors in Spain, well above the EU average. Minister Pablo Bustinduy emphasized the positive impact of this measure on Spanish democracy. The goal is for the allowance to reach all families with children, having the potential to lift over 530,000 children out of poverty. To finance this measure, discussions are underway about introducing a 2% tax on large fortunes, estimating that this could generate up to 5.2 billion euros. The benefit of 200 euros per month could become a reality, and the coalition government is already working on its implementation.
