South Korea intends to allocate the additional tax revenues generated by the semiconductor industry to create a new national fund for public investments in artificial intelligence. The plan was presented by the presidential chief of staff, Kang Hoon-sik, and aims to direct the surplus tax revenues towards a 'fund for responding to future challenges', which will finance strategic projects in the field of AI and chip production.

The fund will also support social programs for youth, including access to housing and support for entrepreneurship. The AI boom has generated record profits for Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, contributing to the increase in the state's tax revenues. Part of the funds will be used for the development of the infrastructure necessary for the semiconductor industry. The government will establish the fiscal strategy this month, and discussions regarding the use of exceptional revenues are already underway. The plan reflects the impact of the accelerated development of artificial intelligence on economic policies in South Korea.
