The President of South Korea, Lee Jae Myung, has launched a mega-investment plan worth 576 billion dollars to strengthen the country's position as a global leader in the field of chips and artificial intelligence.
The announcement was made during a meeting with leaders of major companies, such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which will build new chip factories in the southwest of the country. Lee Jae Myung emphasized the importance of accelerating semiconductor production and ensuring overwhelming production capacity to meet growing demand.
The projects include significant regional investments, and the Minister of Industry announced a doubling of DRAM memory production in the next five years. This initiative aims not only to strengthen the industry but also to reduce regional economic disparities.
