A fake email, apparently sent by Republican legislator John Moolenaar, contained malware intended to obtain information about trade negotiations between the US and China. Cyber analysts tracked the malware to the APT41 group, suspected of links to Chinese intelligence services. The Chinese Embassy denied involvement, stating that it opposes cyber attacks. The FBI and Capitol Police are investigating the incident.
