Slovenia's parliament on Friday passed a law legalizing assisted suicide after a majority of voters voted in favour of the practice in a referendum. The law allows lucid, terminally ill patients to end their lives, except in cases of mental illness. Assisted suicide can only be carried out after all treatment options have been exhausted. The law has sparked controversy, with supporters arguing that it is a moral right, while the opposition warns of risks to human dignity.
