Shakira and her former partner, Gerard Piqué, appeared before a court in Barcelona on Tuesday to discuss changes to the terms governing visitation rights for their two sons, Milan and Sasha. The current agreement was established after the couple announced their separation in June 2022.
The Colombian singer, who lives with the boys in Miami and is currently performing concerts in Madrid, is seeking to reduce the number of trips the children make between the United States and Spain. Her lawyers argue that the measure would protect their emotional, physical and academic well-being.
Shakira proposes that Gerard Piqué travel to Miami during the holidays so the children can maintain their routine for longer periods. The artist’s representatives said the request is not intended to reduce the amount of time the children spend with their father.
After the separation, Shakira moved to Miami, while the former Spanish footballer retained the right to see his sons for several days each month and during the holidays. The two began their relationship in 2011 and have two children together, born in 2013 and 2015. Shakira is concluding her “Las mujeres ya no lloran” world tour in Madrid, with 13 concerts scheduled through October 12.
