Rwanda is facing its first outbreak of the Marburg virus, with 62 cases and 15 deaths as of October 17. Marburg virus, similar to Ebola, is transmitted through direct contact with infected bodily fluids. There is currently no approved treatment, but an experimental vaccine is being tested. Authorities stress the importance of rapid testing and quarantine to prevent the virus from spreading.
