Russia is stepping up its attacks in Ukraine, but faces strong resistance. At the current pace, it would take over 70 years to conquer the entire country.

Russia's summer offensive in Ukraine is being waged on three fronts, but the advance is slow, with high casualties. Although Russia recently conquered 556 sq km, most of the attacks are concentrated in regions such as Sumi and Pokrovsk, where Ukrainian troops are putting up stiff resistance. Military observers suggest Russia's aim is to create a buffer zone and cut off Ukraine's supply routes. With estimated losses of more than 1,000 troops a day, Russia is struggling to advance, and drone strikes are complicating Ukrainian supplies and evacuations.
