In the first half of 2025, Russia's liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports fell by 4.4% to 15.2 million tons, according to LSEG data. Sanctions imposed by the US and difficulties in finding buyers have hurt projects, especially Arctic LNG 2. Exports to Europe fell by 13%, with seaborne exports exceeding pipeline volumes. Analysts point out that Russia is expanding its fleet to circumvent sanctions, but pressure on energy revenues remains critical.
