Russia's liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports recorded a decrease of 3.4% in the period from January to October, reaching 25.2 million metric tons, according to LSEG data. However, deliveries in October increased by 21% compared to the previous year, reaching a monthly record, due to the start of exports from the Arctic LNG 2 project.
Sanctions imposed by the U.S. in the context of the war in Ukraine have restricted exports, affecting the use of the transport fleet. China received the first shipment from Arctic LNG 2 at the end of August, and since then, 13 tankers have been delivered to the Beihai terminal. In contrast, LNG exports to Europe decreased by 17.9% in the first ten months. The Yamal LNG and Sakhalin-2 projects had mixed developments, with increases in October but decreases throughout the year.
