After the International Olympic Committee announced that only 15 Russian athletes will take part in the 2024 Olympic Games, Channel 1 and Rossiya decided not to broadcast the Olympics in protest. Instead, the social media network VKontakte will live stream the opening and closing ceremonies as well as 16 sports disciplines. The IOC's decision came against the backdrop of Russia's war in Ukraine.
