A Russian government report shows how Western pressure, including sanctions, is affecting Russia's plans to expand its influence in the former Soviet Union.

The report highlights how Western sanctions have created ruptures in Russia's trade relations, but also underlines the country's ambition to form a Eurasian trading bloc. There are significant obstacles to this plan, however, as Western countries have agreed with Central Asian countries to comply with sanctions against Russia.
