Russia has announced the closure of the Polish Consulate in Kaliningrad in response to the closure of the Russian Consulate in Krakow, accusing Poland of hostile actions.

The Russian foreign ministry said the closure of Poland's consulate in Kaliningrad, scheduled for the end of August, is in retaliation for Poland's actions in closing the Russian consulate in Krakow in 2025. Bilateral relations have been strained, especially after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Poland accuses Russia of sabotage, including a fire in a Warsaw shopping center. Russia responded by closing the Polish consulate in St Petersburg in January 2025.
