Russia has sent a submarine and other ships to escort an empty tanker, previously known as Bella 1, which tried to avoid the American blockade near Venezuela. Although the vessel is not carrying oil, the crew has changed its name to Marinera and registered it under the Russian flag, without inspection, complicating U.S. actions.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been tracking the vessel, which is now sailing in the Eastern Atlantic, but the new Russian registration provides legal protection under international law. Experts warn that a military action by the U.S. against the vessel could lead to retaliation from Russia and its allies, such as Iran. Russia has urged the United States to cease tracking the vessel, highlighting the growing tensions in international relations.
