The Russian state company Rosatom has stated that at the Iranian nuclear power plant in Bushehr, hit on Tuesday by a projectile, the most grim possible scenario is unfolding. General Director Aleksei Lihachev confirmed that the attack, which did not cause any casualties, occurred near an operational nuclear reactor. As a precautionary measure, Rosatom has begun evacuating personnel, temporarily reducing the number of employees at Bushehr.

Three groups of employees have already been evacuated, and others are set to leave. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been informed about the incident, and the Bushehr plant is the only one in Iran using Russian nuclear fuel. In March, approximately 600 Russian specialists were deployed on-site, of which 250 were permanent. Rosatom had previously announced the intention to evacuate almost all employees after a similar attack on the plant.
