Renault has announced that it will collaborate with the French company Turgis Gaillard to produce military drones in its factories in Mans and Cléon. This partnership, estimated at one billion euros over a period of ten years, will be coordinated by the General Directorate of Armament (DGA). Turgis Gaillard, with 400 employees, specializes in defense systems and recently launched a combat drone. Renault was contacted by the French Ministry of Defense to contribute to the development of a new drone pipeline in France. Although the group has expertise in the production of technological objects, it has not confirmed details about the factories involved, mentioning the need to consult with unions.
In the past, the Minister of Defense emphasized the importance of this partnership, which could support drone production in Ukraine. Renault stated that it does not intend to become a major player in the defense sector, but will participate only if the project has a positive impact on its activities in France. The Ministry of Defense aims for rapid drone production, estimating deliveries of several thousand in the coming months.
