Anna Tivileva, 52, has been appointed by Putin to the post of secretary of state, also holding the position of deputy defense minister. The appointment decree does not specify whether the deputy minister position will be retained. Anna Tivileva is a graduate of the Ivanovo State Medical Academy and the People's Friendship University of Russia. She is also known for her family's ties to businessmen close to Putin.
