In a congratulatory letter addressed to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Vladimir Putin emphasized the 'invincible friendship' between Russia and North Korea, highlighting the closeness of the two countries in the context of the war in Ukraine.

Putin stated that the participation of North Korean soldiers in Moscow's war efforts, particularly in the Kursk region, demonstrates the 'militant brotherhood' between the two states. He also mentioned that the close ties between Pyongyang and Moscow will contribute to establishing a just order in a multipolar world. According to estimates from South Korean intelligence services, approximately 10,000 North Korean soldiers have participated in the conflict in Ukraine, with 2,000 of them losing their lives. North Korea recently confirmed its military involvement in support of Russia, acknowledging the losses incurred.
