At a press conference in Bishkek, Vladimir Putin stated that the plans proposed by Donald Trump could constitute a "good starting point" for future negotiations that could lead to the end of the war in Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of diplomatic discussions, mentioning that Russia has no intention of attacking Europe, but is open to officially recording this position. Putin also criticized claims by some politicians suggesting that Russia is preparing to attack Europe, considering them lies meant to serve the interests of the defense industry or to improve domestic political ratings. Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Putin stated that hostilities will not cease until Ukraine concedes the territories claimed by Russia, emphasizing that the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops is an essential condition for stopping the fighting.
