Pope Leo XIV, former American cardinal Robert Prevost, is set to visit Peru in the first half of November, announced the interim president of the country, Jose Balcazar, after a meeting of about two hours at the Vatican. The visit is scheduled to last 10 days and will include important destinations such as the capital Lima and the city of Chiclayo, where the Pope was a bishop. Balcazar mentioned that discussions included various topics, including the gastronomy of Chiclayo. It is also expected that the Pope may visit Uruguay and Argentina in the second half of the year, as part of a broader tour in South America. This visit highlights the close ties between the Pope and the community in Peru, where he obtained citizenship in 2015.
