In a statement made at Castel Gandolfo, he emphasized the importance of treating people with humanity, while also acknowledging the right of each country to decide who can enter its territory. The Pope urged Americans to consider the message of the American Conference of Catholic Clergy, which called for an end to the "climate of fear." He also addressed the situation in Nigeria, where he warned about the dangers affecting both the Christian and Muslim communities, highlighting that violence has occurred against both groups.
