Péter Magyar, the future Prime Minister of Hungary, announced on Friday the decision to appoint his brother-in-law, Márton Melléthei-Barna, as Minister of Justice, stating that his professional competence is 'undeniable'. In a message posted on X, Magyar mentioned that the future minister's wife will resign from her position as a judge to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest. Although he acknowledged that the family connection created a dilemma, he emphasized that his choice was based on Melléthei-Barna's preparation and commitment to the rule of law. Magyar criticized the previous governance of the Fidesz party, stating that it destroyed the rule of law in Hungary and highlighted the need to address these issues. The new government will take office on May 9, coinciding with Europe Day, marking a new beginning for Hungary.
