The entrepreneur in the field of social networks and founder of the Telegram application has been released from judicial supervision and the ban on leaving France, according to an official source. Durov was arrested in August 2024 and charged with organized crime offenses, including refusal to cooperate with authorities in combating illegal content on his platform. After his arrest, the courts placed him under strict supervision, but the measures were gradually relaxed, being completely lifted in November.
Durov challenged the legality of the investigation, arguing that it was conducted in violation of national and European legislation. He also intensified his criticism of the political and judicial system in France through social networks. The Paris prosecutor's office and Durov's lawyers did not comment on this matter.
