Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, has been questioned by French authorities over allegations of aiding and abetting criminal activities, including managing illegal content on the platform. Although Durov denies the charges, he acknowledges the rise in crime on Telegram and has pledged to improve moderation. Arrested in 2024, Durov was granted a relaxation of judicial supervision, allowing him to temporarily reside in the United Arab Emirates. His lawyers contest the charges and are calling for a constitutional review of the case.
