Patrick Bruel is facing serious accusations after two complaints for sexual assault and attempted rape were filed against him, one in Paris and the other in Saint-Malo. These complaints were revealed by the investigative site Mediapart, which also reported accusations from six other women for incidents of sexual violence between 1992 and 2019. Bruel, at the age of 66, has denied the accusations through his lawyer, stating that he has never forced anyone into a sexual act. The most recent complaint was filed by Daniela Elstner, the general director of Unifrance, who accuses him of sexual assault in 1997. Her lawyer explained that the complaint is more about a need for personal release than a pursuit of legal conviction. Another complaint, filed in 2024, accuses Bruel of rape in 2012, during the British Film Festival. Bruel's lawyer dismisses the accusations, claiming they construct a fictional character. Two previous investigations were closed without follow-up in 2020.
