Patrick Bruel has been detained in France for accusations of rape and sexual assault, involving 13 victims.

The 67-year-old French artist was detained on Monday morning as part of investigations into rape and sexual assault. He is facing accusations from 13 victims, according to the Nanterre prosecutor's office. Bruel is being questioned in connection with acts of sexual assault and attempted rape committed in 1997, 2000, and 2001, as well as a rape from 2012.

There is also a complaint from Belgium regarding a similar incident from 2010. The maximum duration of detention is 48 hours. Bruel has denied the allegations and stated that he is available to cooperate with the judicial authorities. Following these events, the artist has canceled most of his scheduled concerts, including those in Montreal and his participation in the Les Enfoirés festival. His lawyers assert that Bruel will answer all questions from investigators to prove his innocence.
