Viktor Orban welcomed the meeting in Alaska between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin as a step towards a more secure international environment. He said dialog at the highest level was essential for peace, in contrast to pro-war politicians in Brussels. Criticism came from Senator Chuck Schumer, who accused the meeting of being an endorsement of authoritarianism. Although the talks did not lead to concrete results, Russian officials expressed a desire for a better international security architecture.
