In a speech delivered in Szeged, Viktor Orban stated that the fall of Ukraine would represent a catastrophe for Hungary, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability in the country's neighborhood. The Hungarian Prime Minister, who is facing real opposition in the upcoming elections, stressed that Hungary depends on Ukraine for 44% of its electricity and 56% of its natural gas, most of which comes from Russian sources.

Orban also challenged the international consensus regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine, stating that aiding Ukraine could prolong the conflict, which would not serve its interests. His speech was part of a national tour aimed at mobilizing supporters ahead of the elections.
