Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, stated that the five-point plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which aims for Ukraine's accession to the European Union, represents an "open declaration of war" against Hungary. Orban criticized the decisions of Brussels and claimed that this military plan, published by Politico, seeks to undermine the Hungarian government and eliminate the opposition.
The plan provides for a partial accession of Ukraine to the EU by 2027, with steps that include preparation for negotiations and addressing the opposition from Budapest. Orban mentioned that Fidesz is the sure option to stop these efforts. While the European Union maintains that the plan does not simplify the reform requirements, Orban remains the main obstacle, and European capitals are exploring various options to overcome the deadlock created by his position.
