OpenAI has announced a new parental control mechanism for ChatGPT, in response to a complaint filed by the parents of a 16-year-old teenager who committed suicide, alleging that the conversational robot had provided instructions on how to take his own life. Parents will be able to link their account to their child's, setting usage rules and receiving alerts in case signs of acute distress are detected. The company will also implement other measures to improve the way its models respond to signs of mental distress.
