Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, stated that the recent $30 billion commitment to OpenAI could be the company's last investment in this artificial intelligence startup, considering that OpenAI might go public by the end of the year.
Huang mentioned that the initial plan to invest a total of $100 billion in OpenAI, part of an infrastructure deal, is unlikely to materialize due to this listing.
He also suggested that the $10 billion investment in Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI, could be the last.
The $30 billion investment was part of a $110 billion funding round, which also included significant contributions from Amazon and SoftBank. Although Nvidia had a gradual investment agreement in OpenAI, the current investment is not tied to specific implementation milestones. Concerns regarding the completion of the $100 billion deal have been expressed in Nvidia's previous financial reports, which highlighted that there are no guarantees for its completion.
