The Norwegian Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, announced that Norway is open to discussions on how French nuclear weapons could contribute to the security of the continent, within a partnership agreement with France. Eide emphasized that Norway's nuclear policy remains firm, stating that there will be no nuclear weapons on Norwegian territory in peacetime.

This statement came after French President Emmanuel Macron announced the temporary deployment of nuclear-capable aircraft in allied countries. Discussions on this topic have begun with several European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and Poland. Eide mentioned that nuclear negotiations will be part of a strategic defense agreement with France, and Norway will collaborate more closely with other European states to strengthen its defense strategy.
