North Korea intends to improve both qualitatively and quantitatively its nuclear capabilities, according to a report from the official agency KCNA.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the Central Military Commission of the ruling party, where measures were adopted to strengthen nuclear forces and modernize military bases. Kim Jong Un emphasized that a "strong army" is essential for guaranteeing the peace and security of the country. North Korea will also modernize the technical infrastructure of its combat systems and accelerate the construction of modern naval bases.
Kim previously stated that the army will be equipped with nuclear weapons. North Korea considers itself an "irreversible nuclear state" and continues to be subject to international sanctions due to its nuclear program, in the context of ongoing tensions with South Korea.
