The authorities in France presented the report of the New Year's Eve, reporting 1,173 vehicles set on fire and 505 people arrested, of which 403 were placed in preventive detention. Compared to the previous year, the number of arrests increased, but the violence was more limited. The Ministry of the Interior emphasized that, although the number of vehicles set on fire increased from 984 in 2024, the overall situation was calmer, with fewer attacks on law enforcement. Police officers were targeted by attacks with homemade mortars in cities such as Nice, Lyon, Strasbourg, and Rennes. Approximately 90,000 police officers and gendarmes were mobilized to ensure public order, maintaining the same number as in the previous year.
