Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated that he will not give up on his political life, even if President Isaac Herzog grants him a pardon in the corruption trial he is involved in. This statement came in the context where some opposition politicians have demanded that the pardon be conditional on his withdrawal from politics and acknowledgment of guilt. Netanyahu officially requested the pardon, arguing that it would allow him to focus on governance, considering that the frequent trials affect his ability to lead.

Although pardons in Israel are usually granted after legal proceedings are completed, Netanyahu has pleaded not guilty to the corruption charges, which include receiving gifts from businessmen. He believes that the trial is a witch hunt aimed at removing him from power.
