Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, emphasized the necessity of maintaining support for Ukraine, warning that Europe will face increased security risks if it shows signs of insecurity. In an interview, he stated that Ukraine must remain strong to deter any attack from Russian President Vladimir Putin on NATO member states.

Rutte also highlighted the importance of increasing defense spending by NATO members, in accordance with the commitments made at the Hague summit. He warned that rearmament must be swift, considering intelligence assessments indicating a possible deterioration of the security situation by 2027. Rutte pointed out that Russia allocates over 40% of its defense budget, illustrating the threat posed by Putin. He also mentioned the significant losses suffered by Russia in the war in Ukraine, estimating that approximately 1.1 million Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded.
