Mark Rutte, the NATO Secretary General, stated on Thursday that he cannot confirm that the United States will meet its promised military resource commitments to the Alliance, after Washington announced adjustments in its contribution to force planning.

Rutte emphasized that, in the event of a conflict, all allies, including the U.S., will act in the best possible way. He mentioned that the reduction of American contributions to NATO's crisis forces has taken effect immediately, and other Alliance members are intensifying efforts to compensate for these gaps. Rutte also announced the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which is taking place at NATO headquarters in Brussels, highlighting the Alliance's ongoing commitment to military support for Kyiv.
