NATO leaders are gathering in Ankara on Tuesday and Wednesday for a crucial summit, in the context of U.S. President Donald Trump's pressures on Europe to increase its defense spending. Trump's frequent criticisms of NATO and troop withdrawals from Europe have generated insecurity within the Alliance.

Leaders are expected to discuss progress in spending, the development of the defense industry, and the transfer of defense responsibilities from the U.S. to Europe. The summit will include leaders from the 32 member states, including Donald Trump, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. A reaffirmation of support for Ukraine is anticipated, with promises of military assistance.

The summit will also include a defense industry forum, where significant agreements will be announced. Additionally, discussions are expected to address concerns related to Iran and highlight Turkey's capabilities in the defense sector.

President Nicușor Dan will also participate in the summit on Wednesday, where he will reconfirm our country's status as a reliable ally.
