NATO foreign ministers met in Sweden for a two-day summit, in the context of the Trump administration's announcement regarding the reduction of U.S. involvement in European security.
Discussions will focus on plans to withdraw certain security guarantees for Europe, especially in the event of a military conflict, and on the stockpiles of armaments affected by the war in Iran and military support for Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that the announcement is not a surprise, emphasizing that the U.S. needs to pivot towards Asia. The summit will also address the increase in arms production in member states, considering the increased consumption of munitions and equipment.
