At Romania's request, the North Atlantic Council (NAC) is meeting today to discuss the explosions of the two drones that occurred in Galați and Constanța. Ambassador Dan Neculăescu, Romania's permanent representative to NATO, is participating in the meeting.
Security in the Black Sea region is a major concern for the Alliance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the importance of constant dialogue with allies to strengthen security on the Eastern Flank. The explosions occurred on May 29, when a drone hit an apartment building in Galați, injuring two people, and on June 5, when a maritime drone self-detonated in the port of Constanța, near hazardous warehouses. Romania intends to request more anti-drone defense capabilities from NATO partners, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned the collaboration between Romania and Ukraine in this area.
