The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has severely criticized Seedance 2.0, a new video generator based on artificial intelligence, claiming that it caused a flood of copyright infringements on the day of its launch. ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, described Seedance 2.0 as a 'substantial leap in quality', but the MPA argues that the service used protected works without authorization.

A viral video featuring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt sparked controversy, and the MPA has urged ByteDance to stop illegal activities. In the past, OpenAI has been criticized for similar issues but has implemented protective measures. It is unclear whether ByteDance will adopt a similar approach. Industry reactions are pessimistic, with some screenwriters fearing that the technology could replace Hollywood, and the video creator has sparked discussions about the ethics of AI-generated content.
