A macabre discovery took place in Innsbruck, Austria, where the bodies of a 34-year-old Syrian mother and her 10-year-old daughter were found in a freezer, after 16 months of investigation. The police discovered the remains following a detailed investigation, in a hidden room behind a partition wall. The main suspects, a 55-year-old Austrian and his 53-year-old brother, were arrested last June.
The disappearance of the two was reported by a relative living in Germany, and investigators expanded international searches after the victim's card was used suspiciously. The two brothers admitted to hiding the bodies but deny the intention to kill, claiming it was an accident. The cause of death has not been determined due to the advanced state of decomposition.
