Russia, through its foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, said the deployment of a military contingent in Ukraine is unacceptable, accusing Ukraine of lacking interest in a lasting solution.

In a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Lavrov emphasized that foreign intervention in Ukraine is totally unacceptable to Russia. He accused Ukraine of not wanting a just resolution to the conflict, which began in February 2022, and noted that diplomatic efforts are being accelerated by US President Donald Trump. Russia is thus reaffirming its firm position in negotiations on security guarantees for Ukraine.
