The Mexican civil aviation authority has launched an investigation after a pilot from the company Magnicharters refused to take off, citing five months of unpaid salaries. The incident occurred on flight GMT780, which was supposed to transport passengers from Mexico City to Cancun.
The pilot, identified as Edgar Macias, explained to the passengers that the plane would not take off until he received what he was owed. Benito Juarez International Airport confirmed the incident and mentioned that the flight initially encountered a minor problem.
According to the Mexican press, the pilot was detained, and the passengers were evacuated. Macias emphasized that he does not have the protection of a union and expressed regret to the passengers, mentioning that he is a father of three children.
