Meta prohibits artificial intelligence providers from using WhatsApp Business, which could affect their services in the European Economic Area.

According to a policy revealed by Meta in October, artificial intelligence providers cannot use WhatsApp Business Solution, a tool intended for communication between companies and customers. The European Commission has warned that these rules could restrict access for foreign AI providers to the platform in the European Economic Area (EEA), while Meta's artificial intelligence service will remain available.

The Commission announced that it will conduct an in-depth investigation in the EEA, except for Italy, where the competition authority already has ongoing procedures to assess Meta's behavior and impose provisional measures.
