Meta has acquired the artificial intelligence startup Manus for the sum of 2 billion dollars, equivalent to the anticipated valuation in a funding round.

Manus, based in Singapore, specializes in developing AI agencies that can perform various tasks, such as creating travel itineraries and analyzing stock market actions. Following the acquisition, Meta announced that it would sever any ties with Chinese investors and suspend operations in China. Manus will continue to operate independently, integrating its technologies into Meta's products.

This acquisition comes after significant investments by Meta in attracting AI experts, in the context of efforts to develop new language models, following the difficulties encountered with the Llama models. Additionally, Meta has promised an investment of over 600 billion dollars in AI infrastructure in the United States.
